Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Olive! PLEASE TAKE A CHANCE ON THIS GIRL!!
So you want to rescue a dog?? Well Olive is the poster child (DOG) for a dog that finds itself in a rescue. She is not perfect but she has so much love to offer and with a little extra effort you will get the most love you have ever had from a dog.
Olive was one of the first dogs we adopted out when we formed our rescue. She has been in a loving home since she was adopted (about 3 years) but she and the other resident dog just cannot get along. The family has tried and tried but the fights are just too stressful for the dogs and the family. They are devastated and have tried really hard to keep Olive. We all agree it is time to rehome her in an environment better suited for her.
"Once a SacRDR dog, always a SacRDR dog", so we will need to find a loving new home for Miss Olive.
Olive tends to be cautious. She needs time to warm up to new things, environments, and people. Hats and sunglasses are not her favorite thing. Her favorite thing is water – so much so that when she drinks she submerges her entire snout into the bowl.
Olive is very food motivated and does well on a leash. She is a 45 pound snug bug when not in motion. Car rides aren’t her favorite due to motion sickness but that is a work in progress, and she’s improving with every outing!
Olive would excel with a person or family who has the patience to help her build confidence and beat her fears, and is willing to invest the time and effort. She needs a family that will keep her as an only pet and shower her with love and attention, like the Princess she is and like she deserves. Olive can be walked on leash and is not reactive. So she can go places, she will just never be a social butterfly and will do best hanging at home with her family. She has been muzzle trained, too.

Our multi-step adoption process includes an application, meet and greet, animal introductions when applicable, and a home check. We highly value the time and effort put into adoption applications, and encourage thorough, thoughtful responses as this is our primary avenue for getting to know your family. With that in mind, please be aware that applications with excessive blank or one-word responses may not be considered.
Animal introductions will be done for each pet currently living in the household. While we are not here to judge your lifestyles, we also conduct home checks to ensure that the household and backyard will be a safe living environment for a SacRDR dog. The Declaration page of your Homeowners Insurance policy or an approval letter from your landlord must be submitted with your adoption application; these documents are required to ensure that your HOI or landlord covers/accepts the breed you are applying to adopt.
If you have any additional questions, please email adopt@sacrdr.org.
