Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Petunia! In early March, a Good Samaritan who feeds a colony of cats at a Stockton Marina had noticed a very friendly small gray and white cat (almost like a kitten) coming out to greet her whenever she went to feed the cats she’s been caring for almost a year. The little kitten would come out whenever she heard the caretaker’s voice with another small cat that she had neutered earlier this year. But this little kitty cried like a kitten and begged her for food. She was so small compared to most other cats in the colony and was always very hungry as other large cats would eat most of the food. She began to notice that this little one was friendlier than all of the others and she found it strange the way she just appeared and was definitely was not not born there. Petunia became her name. She would come to her caretaker’s hand and allowed herself to be pet as time went on… Petunia is not more than eight months old. One very windy and cold day the caretaker picked her up as she was feeding the rest and Petunia let her hold her and she placed her into a carrier. The caretaker brought her home and she is an absolute delight and became a great companion almost instantly! She LOVES to be brushed and prefers to have company rather than be left alone. The caretaker reached out to us to see if we could help Petunia find a loving home, we of course agreed since she was willing to care for her until that time. We had all of her vetting done and she is now ready to find her place in this world where she’ll be a treasured family member. Thankfully she’s forgotten her roots of likely abandonment as a wee girl. Petunia gets along very well with other cats and people. The colony caretaker would keep her if she didn’t have six already! Petunias ideal home would be where the family is home during the day or they have other cat friendly cats whom she can have the companionship of. She would bring so much joy to any household and will be the perfect addition to any happy indoor only home. .
If you think Petunia would be a perfect fit for your family and you can provide her with an indoor only life, please submit an application today at www.secondchancekitty.org.
All Second Chance Kitty cats are free-fed a quality dry food with low or no grain and are STRICTLY INDOOR ONLY. Studies have proven cats live longer, healthier lives and on average require less financial burdens at veterinary offices when they are kept indoor only. There are so many predators out there, both human and animal and it is sadly unsafe to let them roam unattended.
All of our babes come altered, microchipped, vaccinated, rabies (if age appropriate), FeLV/FIV negative unless stated otherwise , dewormed, flea treated, litter box trained and full of love. Our adoption fees are a minimum $150 donation. Anything beyond $150 helps rescue another babe.
Adoption isn't an impulsive decision, it must be thought out carefully. Owning a cat is a 15 to 20+ year commitment. Can we afford a cat? If we're renting do they allow pets here? Is there a pet deposit? Can we afford the pet deposit? What if we get sick, what if the kitty becomes ill and has to see a veterinarian? Kitty requires routine check-ups, annual vaccines, quality food, litter and toys, can we afford this? These are all questions a responsible pet owner must ask themselves. If you can make this type of commitment please take a moment and visit our website at www.secondchancekitty.org to submit an application.
Second Chance Kitty is a local non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to assisting cats, kittens and an occasional dog, escape a life of abandonment, abuse and neglect.
