My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello, my name is Fern. I was brought to SFAAR when I was only a few weeks old. When I was 3 month old I went to the vet to be spayed. While I was at the vet, I was diagnosed with a grade 5 heart murmur and heart failure. Because of that, I may not have a full life span.

Despite all that, I love to play with other cats and I adore people. I enjoy my food and eat like a normal kitty. While my time here may be short, I just celebrated two years in rescue. My heart condition is being controlled with heart medication, but because I am doing so awesome in my foster home, I am not curretly on any medication. Even though we don't know how much longer I will be around, I am enjoying every second I have and am living life to the fullest.

Sometimes I get a urniary tract infection or ear infection, but those are treated very easily with antibiotics.

SFAAR will adopt Fern into a home that understands his life expectancy is unknown and who has experience with a cat with a heart issue. They would also need to continue her medication and help keep her quality of life comfortable.

Go meet their pets

The hours listed as our open and close hours are to assist prospective adopters in adopting a cat or kitten. Because we are a foster rescue, we do not have a shelter or physical location. To meet our cats and kittens, please phone or email us to arrange a date and time meet them. You can also meet our cats at our Meet and Greet events.

Two Saturdays each month, St. Francis holds a Meet and Greet event from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at the PetSmart store in Forest Lake, MN. Anyone wishing to meet our cats and kittens is invited to attend our Meet and Greet events. We have a quiet room where potential adopters and meet and socialize with any cats/kittens that they are interested in adopting.

More about this rescue

St. Francis Animal Rescue (SFAAR) is a volunteer, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We are dedicated to rescuing and rehoming homeless, neglected, stray and otherwise unwanted cats and kittens. Until they are adopted, our rescued cats live in loving foster homes as part of the family while we learn about their personalities, behaviors and temperaments. Foster families work with their cats/kittens to teach them good manners, care for any medical problems, and address any behavior issues. This information helps our adoption counselors match the perfect pet for you and your family.
