Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Lizzo came to Chihuahua Rescue from a shelter in Vevay, IN. Her former person had died and she ended up there. Lizzo has clearly had a lot of food that wasn't the best for her; she needs to lose 1.5-2 lbs from her arrival weight. She's only been on her weight loss regimen (a measured amount of healthy weight dog food and limited low-calorie treats) for a month and is very noticeably slimmer.
Although Lizzo takes a minute to warm up to new people, she's very sweet when she realizes that you are trustworthy. She particularly likes belly rubs and lots of general petting. She'd love to cuddle up next to you on the couch if you'll let her.
Lizzo was limping on her right front leg when she came to us, but a visit to the vet got her diagnosed with a bit of arthritis in that wrist. She was started on doggy Ibuprofen, which has made her much more comfortable. She also takes a joint supplement.
When she's excited or anxious, Lizzo tends to walk or trot in a circle. The vet thinks she might have had an inner ear inflammation in the past which has left her with this tendency. However, it's a way to burn a few calories!
Lizzo loves being outside, especially as the weather is getting nicer. A securely fenced yard would be a real plus in her new home.
Are you the one who can give this lovely girl the soft place to land that she needs for the rest of her life? She will smile at you if she really likes you! She would probably do best with older children who can respect her space.
