With age comes wisdom. This lovely gal has seen 10 years of life and has many wisdoms to offer. “Smile to make others smile.” “Offer to shake hands at every opportunity, you might get free food out of the deal.” “Explore the world, you never know what amazing smell you can stumble across.” “Always instigate cuddles when able, who doesn’t appreciate cuddles?”
Seraphina has struggled through some rough life obstacles, but she still wakes up every day and chooses to love with all of herself. At 3 years old she was saved from the euthanasia list and navigated being a foster dog with grace and charm. She lost her puppies but was able to battle through illness and recover. She was adopted and then rehomed at least once. Early March this year she was found wandering lost and despite all efforts her people were never identified to reunite them. Besides adjusting to her foster home, she had surgery to remove 1lb of kidney stones from her bladder. She kept that fun pep in her step through all these major life changes. Now, after a smooth recovery and a special diet, Seraphina is ready to find her forever family.
Thanks to a prescription food Seraphina can avoid repeats of her astounding internal pebble collection and live a normal dog life. Seraphina eagerly jumps in the car to go wherever you desire, is a well-behaved house guest, and endeavors to make you laugh and feel adored every time you see her. She is crate trained but would prefer to follow her humans around the house or help you with cleaning. Without thumbs she has no choice but to resort to using her tongue to get that floor spit-shined. We are working on convincing her that while appreciated, she is not needed for cleaning duty.
As a wise dog with a distinguished salt and pepper muzzle Seraphina is comfortable and happy with who she is and what she enjoys. She knows herself well and is just not interested in any canine companions she has met so far. She thrives as the only dog in a household and has enough affection for all the people you can fit in her family. Small humans, tall humans, quiet humans, loud humans, it doesn’t matter to her, she adores them all and is happy to meet new people friends. We are unsure on how she would do with cats, the one she met was outside and maybe she thought it was a squirrel. She may be lab sized but her soul and personality are clearly of the beagle variety.
Known to many Oklahomans, Seraphina also shares that fear of big thunder booms. While she may not know what a tornado is, big sounds from storms or fireworks cause her to seek comfort from her people and safety in weird places. Calming treats and a den like space help her cope with her fear. Snuggles also help, maybe you can provide snuggles?
Seraphina’s ideal family is one or more humans that enjoy snuggles and affection, are looking to add daily walks and small to medium exertion adventures to their routine, and who appreciate her goofy personality. No experience required, she will teach you the best spots to give scritches, the smelliest most interesting spots in your neighborhood, and how fun it is to be loved by a dog.
