My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Become enchanted with Magic!

Hi, friends! My name is Magic, and I’m a 4-year-old Terrier mix male, weighing in at 70 pounds.

As far as training goes, I’m potty-trained, walking while on a leash is a work in progress, and I’m working hard on my crate training skills.  I’ve already been neutered and am in good physical health.

I’m told that I have the biggest heart, and I love being near people and other doggie friends.  I’m such a lover and have the goofiest personality. I’ve been working on my training and have been picking up cues very quickly.  Currently, I’m working on sitting, paws up, and some obedience commands.

I’m a medium-energy type of guy.  I love enrichment puzzles, chews, and lick mats.  I absolutely LOVE toys, and I can sit on the couch and shred them for hours.  I’m also extremely dog friendly and have shown no signs of aggression or resource guarding with others.

As I mentioned above, I am working on keeping my anxiety levels under control.  I tend to get very nervous in new environments, and I feel anxious when confined in small spaces (especially when in a crate). I can get spooked easily, but my foster mama believes I’ll gain confidence once I’m in a stable home and given time to come out of my shell at my own pace.

My ideal furever home would be one where I could give you all the love! After all, I aim to please, and all I want to do is be your shadow and snuggle up with you on the couch.  I think having another calm but playful doggie sibling around would be really beneficial for me and my anxiety, especially one who’s confident and respectful of my boundaries. I am not a fan of cats, and should not live with one. As for kids, a home with  kids ages 10 years and older would be ideal.

Have I cast a spell on you? If so, my adoption fee is $400 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip.  If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
