Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Ruby! She is a gentle and quiet 7 year old, spayed female, who is up-to-date on all of her vaccines. She is potty trained, rides well in the car, and well behaved with other quieter dogs. She doesn't like rough play.
Ruby is a real love bug. She can't get enough attention. She is more relaxed with women than men, but would respond quickly to a softer, gentler man. Ruby is typically left loose to roam the house with or without her foster there, but she is also crate trained. She prefers a soft crate to a hard metal crate.
She responds well to the leash, and absolutely loves hiking! She does well off-leash, checking in frequently, in non-high traffic areas.
Due to her past as a mill dog, she will need someone who is very patient and understanding before she trusts you. Once she does she is a complete snuggle bug, and would love to sleep with you in the bedroom.
Ruby is not a city dog, or apartment dog. She prefers a person who has a quiet home and quiet neighborhood. She would be ideal for someone in a very rural setting with a lot of land to romp and explore. Ruby can get nervous by certain noises, but once she is reassured that she is safe she calms right down. Ruby would prefer someone who is home most of the time. Ruby does well being left for short periods of time, but nothing more than 5 hours.
Ruby loves to spend time outside, so a home with a fully fenced yard or a house situated on a large parcel of land where she could just hangout would be ideal.
Ruby is extremely food motivated. Ruby loves mud puddles and rolling in stinky stuff, but does not love baths, however she does tolerate them. She doesn't like loud noises or chaos, like traffic, but is very tolerant of kids.
Ruby is being fostered in Pomfret, CT. If she sounds like the dog for you please fill out an application at: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoptions
