Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Paddy Blue!
Paddy Blue is a beautiful, neutered, 40 lb., blue merle Australian Shepard with a nub that never stops wiggling. He is about 4 yrs. old and up to date on his vaccinations. Paddy Blue was found as a stray and the shelter reached out to ASF for help.
Paddy Blue was in a lot of pain due to glaucoma and infections in his eyes and was totally blind. Since there was no hope of him recovering his sight, his eyes were removed. Being blind has only been a minor inconvenience for Paddy Blue. He is house broken and uses the doggy door. His foster mom lets him wander the back yard and he loves to explore. He has figured out his way around and has no trouble going in and out. He has no problem getting into the car, or on the furniture, but he is hesitant to get down because he cannot see the ground. He has a true Aussie mentality and figures it out. He is even learning to go up and down steps.
As an Australian Shepard, he if very low key. He gets along with other dogs, but would do best with another low key, confident dog sibling. Paddy Blue will make a lousy watch dog. I have never heard him bark and he happily greets strangers.
Paddy Blue loves to be hugged! His fur is so soft, it is like hugging a big stuffed animal. He climbs up into his foster mom’s chair and sits with her to watch tv. Paddy Blue has been kid tested with a baby. He would do best with older children who understand that he cannot see and will move slowly around him.
He ignores the cats, including the one that rubs up against him. He allows his foster mom to take food out of his mouth. He knows some basic commands like sit, down, and leave it. He is house broken, not a digger, and not a chewer. He just wants to be loved!
Do you have a warm spot for Paddy Blue on your couch? Do you have the patience to help him navigate his world? Please keep in mind that introductions to a new environment will need to be slow and methodical for Paddy Blue to feel confident in his new home. Please note, baby gates will need to be utilized if your home has a full flight of stairs.
Paddy Blue is currently being fostered in Virginia Beach, VA. If he sounds like the perfect fit for you, please fill out our application:
