Here's what the humans have to say about me:
In Auburn, CA
Meet Scout! He is a spunky joy of a boy!! Scout is a 12-week-old Australian Shepherd puppy who was an Oops liter. Scout is 1 of 6 puppies that happened because his puppy daddy really wanted to show his puppy momma some loving while their human mom was at work (while in separate crates). Both mom and dad have the Aussie Merle coloring and genetically, when you breed a merle to merle, 1 in 4 puppies may have a birth defect. This is known as a Double Merle.
Scout was born primarily white and can not hear or see. But do not be fooled by this, because Scouts other senses kick in at a high level. Scout can feel vibrations. He can smell you when you walk in the house, he quickly maps out his rooms and is a typical Velcro Aussie!
Scout has tons energy and has no fear. Scout is a confident 12 week old Aussie puppy. He loves to wrestle and play with his 2 y/o foster brother and is quickly learning commands like sit and down using tactile cues. Scout is learning to be comfortable in a crate and will need more crate training once he is adopted so the crate can become a safe zone for him.
Scout has learned very quickly how to get up and down the steps from the back door to the yard and prefers to potty outside. He walks in circles to let you know he needs to go. Scout is still young so he will need a furever home that has time and patience to be continue training a puppy.
Scout will do best with another pup in the home that will continue to teach him the ropes. Scout will also enjoy a fenced in yard, that he can map out, and run and play safely and learn to play ball and bring the back to his spot. There are many resources available to help with this. For example: Keller’s Cause https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=17xWL8pYt2Q and https://deafdogsrock.com
Scout is UTD on his shots and started his heartworm, tick and flea prevention. Scout has a clean bill of health from our ASF veterinarians and specialized ophthalmologist. Scout is too young to be neutered, but it will be required that his furever home has Scout neutered and a $50 refundable deposit will be required to help ensure the commitment.
If you have a love for Aussies, love for puppies and want a fearless friend for life! Scout is your boy!
