Here's what the humans have to say about me:
YOUNG FEMALE BOERBOEL IN URGENT NEED OF FOSTER, ADOPTER OR FOSTER-TO-ADOPT
We have once again been contacted by our partner shelter for help with a special girl. Ellie is an 18-month-old Boerboel who was seized from a puppy mill. Intended to be used for breeding, she was frightfully underweight, her thin body full of wounds from having been attacked by other dogs over food. Ellie is currently at 80 pounds, and will be a 100-pound pooch at her ideal healthy weight.
Now back at the shelter, Ellie had a temporary stay in a home, where she was evaluated and found to be very calm. Described as a couch potato, she loves cuddles after going for a walk. Ellie is good on leash, and not reactive to other dogs as long as they're not in her bubble. She is not destructive, mostly housebroken, and not vocal. Ellie can be a bit shy at first contact, especially with men, but Ellie is not aggressive with humans and quickly becomes very affectionate.
Ellie has been recovering well from her ordeal, but she needs to be the only dog in the home. She is curious about cats when introduced and accepts cats that respect her space, but they must be separated at mealtime. Ellie comes from a more rural environment and has sadly not been out much. As a result, she is afraid of loud noises and when there is too much traffic around.
After all she’s been through, Ellie will need patience and TLC with Mastiff-experienced people in a rural or semi-rural setting. If you are interested in fostering or adopting this gorgeous girl and helping her learn how to become a cherished family member, please fill out the appropriate form at www.kikodogrescue.ca. We are active in the Greater Montreal and Eastern Ontario areas.
