Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Gus is hoping to live his best life. All he needs is a forever family. He eagerly welcomed indoor life and has been enjoying every part of it. He likes sleeping anywhere and clearly wants to be near his people. Gus will sleep in your lap (all 75 lbs.), on your feet, along your side, in a doggie bed, or in the crate; you decide!
He is quite an affectionate boy that loves all the snuggles, pets and ear rubs. Gus is confident, fun and friendly to everyone meets. He wants to be next to you if possible, or at least in the same room. But if you are not, his independent nature allows him to keep himself occupied.
Gus is interested in all the happenings and wants to be part of it. He loves all kinds of toys and will fetch them for you. He is playful and has a good amount of energy, but he can also turn it off and relax at a moment’s notice. Gus is good with car rides and does well overall with leash walking.
Gus is doing great with two resident collies. In his forever home, he would do well with another playful dog around his age or size, or he could just as easily be an only dog. Although Gus would excel in many types of households, he has shown extreme interest and enthusiasm in pursuing the resident cat, so it’s best that he live in a kitty free home. Because he is generally a quiet boy, he would make a great at-home office mate and would offer warm companionship to anyone working from home. His foster home believes that a fenced yard would be best for Gus as he’s used to having some space to run and play.
Gus has not been tested with children in his foster home, but we believe he would be great. However, due to his size and possible diminished eyesight, at least peripherally, he can bump into people when happily maneuvering around. For this reason, we recommend no children under eight or people with stability, balance or walking issues.
This boy has a quiet gusto for life and is just waiting for someone who will appreciate all he has to offer.
