Here's what the humans have to say about me:
CANDY 8 Year Old Chocolate Female Lab 90 Pounds, Spayed
Background: Candy was found tethered to a fence and picked up by a shelter in the South Bay, who in turn, contacted rescue. Initially, thought to be pregnant, but it turned out to be a false pregnancy.
What Candy's Foster Says: Candy (short for Candystripe) because of the white horizontal stripe on the flap of her right ear. Candy is sweeter than her name. She is easygoing. Always happy to see me when I return home, yet never jumps on people. She loves getting big pets all over.
We walk 1.5 miles, twice a day which she leisurely walks along smelling things as we go. She does not bark on walks or at other dogs. She has seen squirrels and cats with no interest in them. She wants to be with me always or at least know where I am. As I work on my computer, she sleeps on a blanket nearby. She sleeps through the night in his dog bed at the foot of my bed.
I had another Lab stay with us for 3 days and she did not care about sharing her bedroom space and is not food possessive. She does not fetch, but was happy to sneakily take the ball from the dog who fetched it and brought it back. She is one smart dog. She has a wonderful temperament. She is a sweet, gentle loving dog that is well-behaved, potty trained, walks well on a leash, fine with crates, doesn’t mind having baths… Basically as easy going as a dog can be. She will make a wonderful addition to a family. She has so much love to give and is ready to bond with her new family!
What Candy's Rescue Rep Says: We would love to find a home for Candy that has the time to spend with her. She was already abandoned once, and we were lucky enough to bring her into our program and want to make sure she's a welcome member of her forever family. She is a very easygoing girl and seems to always have a smile on her face. She loves to be with people, does well with other dogs, and is great in the car. While she is good with other dogs, if there's another dog in the household, they would need to meet (first) to ensure they're compatible. She does have a tendency to want to hump other dogs and responds to a firm "No," or "Off." We would need to ensure any humping can be tolerated and handled appropriately, e.g. Candy has been around my three dogs, and while she doesn't bother humping two of them, she does want to hump one, and he does not like it! She has a wonderful temperament. She is a sweet, gentle loving dog that is well-behaved, potty trained, and walks well on a leash. She met a nice indoor cat with a sniff and a wagging tail.
Medical: Candy is up to date on her shots (Rabies, DHPP), is heartworm negative, microchipped, and spayed. The shelter put her at 4-5 years of age, but after a vet visit, we think she is more like 8 years old.
