Meet Oliver. He will be 9 weeks old on Sunday, 3/26/2023. He is a smart, affectionate, playful, bundle of joy. He's beyond precious, and will melt your heart every time you look at him. Just remember as your heart pools into a puddle at your feet, raising a puppy is a big commitment and a lot work.
His mom is well loved (and so is dad). Mom’s family did not plan for her to have puppies, but she did. It won’t happen again as Underdog is spaying mom. The father has already been neutered. What’s important now is making sure Oliver finds a home that is well prepared to help him grow in a stellar canine companion.
There has been a large uptick of young adult Doodles in rescue (along with many other working breed dogs) due to owners who were not quite as prepared as they thought they were for the commitment involved. For the benefit of both Oliver and any potential adopter, we want to make sure anyone thinking about applying to adopt:
~Has researched and understands the importance of puppy socialization
~Has a training plan, as well as the time, means, and energy to commit to implementing it
~Is up to the task of meeting the mental & physical energy needs of a smart active dog
~Understands the expense involved in keeping a Doodle type of dog groomed
~Realizes the Poodle in his mix does not make Oliver a hypoallergenic dog
Mom is 20Lbs (mini Doodle) and dad (Goldendoodle) is 45Lbs, we expect this little chunky money will grow to be closer to dad's size (possibly even a little bigger than dad), but this just a guess. Oliver's looks lean more to the Golden Retriever than poodle side.
Included in Oliver's adoption fee is 3 sets of puppy vaccinations and de-worming, rabies vaccination, microchip, and spay/neuter. He has received his 8 week vaccination. Adopters must be able to take him into an Underdog designated Vet (in Gladstone, OR) for his remaining provided 12 and 16 week puppy vaccinations, as well as his 11/8/23 neuter appointment. This will limit adoptions to the Portland metro area. Adoption fee is $675
If you have made it this far and are interested in applying to adopt and want to see about a meet you can complete an online Underdogs Rock Rescue adoption application at https://underdogsrock.org/adoption-application
Underdogs are not held for or shipped outside of the area. Meets and home checks are part of the adoption process. Everyone in an applicant’s household must be able to meet in Vancouver, WA, to include current dogs in the home if there are any.
