OK, first — yes, Muggs is a girl dog! And, no, we don’t know how a girl dog got that name. We do know that Muggs is a smart, loving companion whose love language is looking out for her peeps.
As a Rottweiler mix, Muggs is a protector by nature. Back in the day, the Roman legions used Rottweilers to guard their camps. That badass heritage has, shall we say, pros and cons in this modern age. Muggs, for example, won’t do well in a house with young kids she feels compelled to protect from all evildoers – like, you know, the Amazon guy or your next-door neighbor.
This sweetheart’s ideal forever home will have a peaceful, predictable rhythm with familiar visitors, minimal visits from strangers, and perhaps another dog. Muggs will be a delightful companion for someone who can provide this environment.
Age: 3 years
Weight: 70 lbs
Temperament: Good with dogs, can be reactive to strangers, particularly men.
Vetting: Spayed, up to date on vaccines.
Training: Crate-trained, house trained, knows commands.
To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review. Once your application is approved, we will bring the adoptable pet to your home for a preliminary visit. We are 100% donation-funded and our fees are equivalent to (or less than) the cost to fully vet a new dog yourself.
