Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi, I’m Bates! 🐾 In Trappe, MD
I’m a 3ish year old red merle (small standard, 40lbs) with a cute nub that doesn’t stop wiggling. Everyone compliments my two different colored eyes too!
I walk okay on the leash, and my foster mom has been working on my recall and I’ve been doing awesome, unless there’s a barn cat to chase. I think all cats belong in trees!
I get along well with my foster brother & sister, unless there’s food around. It’s my food and I don’t want anyone to touch it, unless it’s my foster mom. It’s best to just leave me alone while I eat in peace.
I know sit, stay and shake but have so much potential to learn many more tricks! I love sitting in my kennel, and will do so randomly just to get some treats. I’m also house trained but prefer to be in my kennel when I’m alone just because I like to chew when I’m anxious.
I would do well in a home without any fur siblings, or with a dog who isn’t considered “alpha.” Kids are so-so, but if there are kids in the house my foster mom thinks dog savvy teens would be best. I love to sit with my person on the couch, and will grab any toy to play with. I love benebone chew toys, too and I’d love a big fenced in yard to run around in!
Do you have a place for me on your couch? If so please send in an application!
