Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Our statuesque Bullmastiff, Bleu, came to us last year from NYCACC, after her owners dropped her off without much explanation. Two and a half years old, our girl was faced with an uncertain future in an overcrowded Shelter. The race was on to get her to our Connecticut Rescue ASAP so she could relax in the country sunshine and find peace.
The Rescue process is extremely upsetting to most dogs, and not the ideal scenario for evaluating dog behavior. Despite all the traumatic changes, Bleu sailed through her intake process, making friends at every turn. Once she was released to us, she continued to show a delightful personality and balanced nature.
Bleu is an energetic gal, but doesn't have the over-the-top energy that we see so often in other Bully breeds. She has a relatively calm demeanor and is easy to handle on lead. She would be an excellent choice for a savvy Bully owner.
Of course, Bullies are higher energy than most dog breeds, so even though Bleu is calm for a Bully, she still needs sufficient exercise to be happy. She has a strong, yet nimble physique, with long legs and a majestic stance. She is a lean 75 pounds and could easily gain 10 pounds and still be within normal weight range. Her coat is short, manageable and easy to groom. Bleu is mostly tan with striking white tuxedo markings.
Bleu loves the outdoors, and enjoys her walks even in the harsh weather. She would be an ideal walking companion, and would do well with one to two brisk leash walks each day, plus focussed playtime and obedience work. She has had a good deal of obedience training, and knows all her basic commands. She has begun her Canine Good Citizen program and impresses us every day. Adopters should continue her program, and develop her full potential.
Bleu could join just about any kind of active home, with experienced Bully Breed folks. She is generally well behaved, and friendly to all. Although she is fairly easy to handle, she may overwhelm children. Bleu has had limited contact with other dogs. She plays rough and does not always respect social cues during play. She is better with male dogs than female. We have not tested her with cats.
Bleu has excellent house manners, and is well past the puppy mayhem stage. She is house trained and crate trained, although adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that may occur as she adjusts to a new routine. Bleu is a calm car passenger, and behaves well in public.
Bleu has been spayed, has received routine vaccinations and health screenings. vaccinated for routine shots. She has been microchipped and dewormed. If you are interested in Bleu, please write to Denise at Angelsfrgod@aol.com or call/text Denise at 860-908-9738 for more info.
