Binx deserves a second chance at life! This handsome fella will is 7 years old and we hope he turns 8 in his furever home.
Binx was brought in as a stray over a year ago with all kinds of inner and outer battle scars from surviving on the streets. The staff and volunteers at ACHS have given him the time, patience and love he needed to learn to trust again. Binx can easily get overstimulated if you don`t pay attention to his vibes. He must be respected and approached on his term. The effort it takes to connect with Binx is well worth it - Binx is an affectionate lover-boy at heart!
Binx will do best in a quiet home with no children under the age of 12. He loves to play and watch the birds at the birdfeeder. Binx gets along with other cats as long as they leave him alone. He`s not aggressive but does need his space. He`s a senior gentleman who is very laid back and loves naps, cuddles, and hugs. He hates it when you stop petting him. If you have room in your heart and home for Binx, please read the ACHS adoption requirements and complete an online application. Thank you!

Congratulations on your decision to adopt an animal companion for your family. The Adams County Humane Society is happy you are considering adoption from our shelter. The goal of the ACHS is to find permanent, loving, forever homes for the animals in our facility. We do not adopt on a first come first served basis, but what home is the best fit for that particular animal. We do not hold animals for adoption more than a day and only after an application has been pre-approved. Our goal is to match the best animal for your lifestyle and family. Please complete the adoption application completely, as incomplete applications will drastically slow down the process and the animal you are looking at may be adopted before we can complete processing your application.
In order to be considered for adoption, you must:
* Be 21 years of age or if under 21 you must be a home owner. Proof of ownership may be required.
* Current pets must be up to date on rabies and distemper vaccinations.
* ACHS will check with landlords for approval of pets in rental homes/apartments/condos. If you live at home with your parents we will have to call them as well as they are the home owners. It is always a good idea to touch base with your landlord letting them know you are looking for an animal before we call them.

ACHS is a small shelter 100% run by donations, adoptions and fundraisers. We do not euthanize for space, no healthy well disposition animals are ever euthanized. We need your support to continue our important work of helping the animals & people of Adams County & surrounding areas.
ACHS takes great pride in the care we give our animals on their way to loving forever homes. We can house up to about 30 cats at a time and we have 20 indoor kennels for dogs (3 1/2 by 9 feet). We have 16 large outside play areas for the dog’s so on nice days we partner them up to go outside and play. We also have 1 room we call the "Puppy Room" that is away from all the other animals and is used for a dog about to have puppies, already nursing or a litter that is too young for adoption.
Before animals are adopted the dogs are spayed /neutered, give their rabies, distemper, kennel cough and k9 Influenza vaccinations, de-wormed, Heartworm tested, on heart worm preventative, flea/ tick preventative and they get a microchip.
We test the cats to make sure they are negative for FIV/Leukemia, give rabies & distemper vaccinations, de-wormed and have a microchip as well.
