Here's what the humans have to say about me:
In Oliver Springs, Tennessee Jack is ready to find his forever family. Jack is a 5yr old Black Bi Aussie and he weighs about 45lbs. He is being fostered in Oliver Springs, TN.
Jack spent most of his first 5 years being neglected and confined in a kennel or outside. As a result he became very insecure, fearful and learned to escape any type of confinement.
Despite his past experiences and insecurity Jack is an easy dog to have around and a very loving and devoted dog once he trusts you. He would love to just sit in your lap if he could and get hugs all day. He will make a wonderful companion to the right family. He is a velcro dog and does not want to let his person out of his sight. He would not do well being left alone for long periods of time so needs a person who works at home or is retired.
We have not had any issues with him trying to escape our yard. We have a 5ft chain link fence. He also always comes when called. He cannot be crated because it causes anxiety and he will escape, but he does fine in the house uncrated and can be easily trusted. He is potty trained and knows some basic commands.
He likes to go with you on outings but needs a little more work on car rides. A car barrier would be good since he try’s to escape seat belts. He also walks nicely on a leash and harness and will stick close to me although he is still nervous and needs someone to continue working on this with him to get more comfortable.
He does still have a lot of anxiety with loud noises or sudden movements so I would recommend a home without children. He is dog friendly and has managed well with both our dogs but definitely does better with our female. I would recommend a home with a female dog or a calm non dominant male.
I do not think Jack has had a lot of experience playing with other dogs so he is learning to enjoy dog company and does play now but also needs his space.
