My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you know a sweeter dog, let minnow!

Hey guys! My name is Minnow and I am a small fry in this big ocean. I am a 4 year old spayed female Hound mix weighing about 63 lbs. I was rescued from San Diego, but the Texas one, and my puppies have found their amazing homes and it's time for this mama fishie. I am house trained, bathroom trained, crate trained, no separation anxiety, good on leash. I can get reactive with dogs on the leash but I am getting so much better with positive reinforcement training. I can practically walk past them without lunging now, and with positive interrupters, I can even sit around dogs at a restaurant!

I came to my foster mama as an unsure, clumsy girl and have turned into an incredibly cuddly, playful and still clumsy lady. I have a great temperament and a bunch of happy energy. I love long walks, hikes and after all that, love to chill out on the couch. I do have a calm energy about me. I truly love every person I meet, getting along swimmingly well, and I know I will be the best companion, and even a workout buddy. I just go a bit nutty when near other dogs, so being an only pet would be ideal. I am very selective, so with another dog, I have to have a proper temperament test. I haven't met kitties yet, but I am good around kids!

My mama vouches that I am the most fintastic dog ever. Loving everyone I meet and is the best adventure buddy. I have a calm about me and it could be because of being a mama, but my goofster self is still around. I need a strong handler as I am a big and strong gal, and need an active person. But after tuckering out, get ready for divine cuddles. I will need a full temp test if I have to be around a dog, but walks are fine now with positive reinforcement and interrupters. Learn more about me on IG @minnows_adventure. My adoption fee is $250 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
