My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ivy's puppies were born on January 4, 2023. Their mom is a lab mix and dad was either the wandering Great Pyrenees or the neighbor's Black Lab. They came to rescue at 5 weeks old and since then they have been introduced to life as a house dog. They love stuffed toys and have just learned about the joy of salmon and sweet potato jerky. Yummy! They are learning "how to dog" from their mama and the other adult dogs in the house. Since they are not yet fully vaccinated, they haven't been outside much, but are using potty pads. They love to help with chores like folding laundry, sweeping the floor and taking out the trash. These babies are so much fun and we can't wait to see what adventures they get up to with their forever families!

The adoption fee for Ivy's puppies is $150. This includes all vaccines (4 Distemper/Parvo, 2 Lepto, a Rabies, and a Bordetella), appropriate dewormings, microchipping and the spay/neuter surgery when they are old enough.

If you can see this post, we are still accepting applications.  Once the application window closes, it will take us afew days to process all the applications we receive. We will then be in touch to set up meet and greets with approved adopters.  The amount of applications we receive determines how long it takes us to process them all.  We will contact you by the email address you entered on the application, so please make sure it is correct.

When adopting a puppy from a litter, we think it is best that approved adopters come meet the puppies and interact with them before choosing which puppy to adopt. You can’t learn much about a dog's personality from a picture, but you can learn a lot from sitting in the middle of a pile of puppies! From experience, we know that sometimes adopters pick one dog based on the pictures, but fall in love with another once meeting them. Applying to adopt from the litter instead of applying to adopt a particular puppy might not be the way all rescues work but we find it helps us do the best job of matching puppies with families.  Besides, this way, the puppies have a say too! You'd be surprised by how often the puppy picks their family.
Hootie's Haven takes the responsibility of choosing forever homes for our dogs very seriously and always has the best interest of our dogs in mind. Our goal is to place each dog with families that will provide forever homes.  We reserve the right to deny an application for any reason and are not obligated to provide a reason.

We also post updates on our Facebook page, so please make sure you have liked our page and are following it so that you will see the updates.  You can also go to our page to see other pictures or videos of our dogs.  https://www.facebook.com/hootieshaven

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

An Adoption Application is completed which includes current pets and veterinarians. Veterinarians are contacted to verify that current pets are up-to-date on vaccinations and heart prevention. A visit to the property to confirm fencing is made or a search on Google Earth is conducted to confirm the fencing. Any current pets in the home are introduced to the potentially adopted pet to insure they all are behaviorally compatible.

Go meet their pets

We hold adoption events at our closest Petsmart location, as well as meet and greets by appointment. We also participate in festivals, parades, and other public events to bring awareness to the public about our available pets, and the importance of spaying and neutering.

More about this rescue

We are a licensed 501c3 animal rescue in NW Georgia. We serve our communities by accepting owner surrenders from owners who for whatever reason, are no longer able to care for their pets. We also assist our communities by taking in dogs from animal control facilities who might otherwise be euthanized. All pets coming into our rescue are vaccinated, spayed/neutered, microchipped, and heartworm tested. If needed we also provide heartworm treatment and recovery time.
