Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Are you ready to party?!?!? I know I am always down for fun!!! My name is Autumn and I am a young, active, playful Basset, just about a year old. You probably notice from my photos that I am a bit petite for a Basset but we all know good things come in small packages! I came to BROOD after my family decided they didn’t want me anymore and am hoping there is a fun-loving family out there that has a place in their home and heart for me!!!
I am house-trained and crate trained. I love going on adventures, whether it is a long walk through the neighborhood or a ride in the car. I am always on the lookout for something new and fun to do. As I am so young, I still have lots of puppy behaviors so I will need a family willing to work with me to be the best girl I can be. I am very food motivated and a quick learner. My foster family has worked with me using clicker training to learn to sit and other neat tricks. I am always excited to meet new people children and dogs and sometimes my high energy can be a little overwhelming. For that reason, I’d be best in a home with older children and probably as an only dog. I would love a playmate, another dog just as active as me, but older, calmer, laid-back dogs are not going to find my level of enthusiasm very soothing. Same with cats, I like cats, but they don’t particularly like me.
I need a lot of activity and exercise to keep me happy. It’s ok if you don’t have a fenced yard for me to play in but I’ll need lots of walks and exercise for my high energy level. I’d make a great neighbor in an apartment or condo due to my small size and quiet nature.
I have been working on steadily putting on some pounds at my foster home. I was pretty thin when my owner left me at the shelter. I still have a little more weight to gain to reach my ideal size. I can be protective of my food and treats around other animals as I am still learning there is always going to be enough food to go around. If I go to a home with another dog, it will be important to keep me separate when there is food around.
If you are searching for a wee bundle of fun and energy, then I am the special gal for you!!! Please contact BROOD today!!! My adoption fee is $400.00.
**Only BROOD-approved adopters can meet a dog (no exceptions). Our adoption application is on the BROOD website at https://brood-va.org/adoptionapp/. We adopt to residents of Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, DC, Delaware, and southern Pennsylvania. Do not apply to adopt from BROOD if you live in another state. We require a virtual home visit and a veterinary reference.
The age of many BROOD dogs is unknown, as very few come with official records. The estimate on the dog’s age is usually the initial estimate given by the receiving shelter, which may be different from that given at the time of the initial checkup. Different veterinarians may also give different ages, and those different opinions are sometimes reflected on the record. ***BROOD’s adoption fees are determined based on the age of the dog. 03/04/2023
