My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ABANDONED!

You could see it in his eyes. This poor guy was left trapped in a house and had to fend for himself for a week before he was saved.

When we rescued him, he was terrified of going in a kennel…like really scared. We worked hard with this poor guy and helped him get over his fear of abandonment.

We also have to wonder if he was punished by being put in a kennel. Most dogs in the right environment see them as a safe haven. He did not…until now.

It broke our hearts to see him so terrified, like he thought he was going to be abandoned again. We taught him he’ll be ok and made him realize a kennel is his safe place.

We do everything we can to help the dogs in our rescue. We want to make sure they are happy, healthy and as well adjusted as they can be so that we can set them up for success to insure a happily forever after.

Sweet Rocko is now ready for his happily forever after.

He is pretty chill, but does love to do yard zoomies, loves to give kisses and snuggle, is dog friendly, and just the sweetest little man but best in a home with older/no children.

If you have room in your heart and home for this adorable guy, he would make an amazing family member!

If interested in possibly meeting him, please go to the below link to fill out an application. We just like to know a little about you prior to a meet and greet.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

. First, the potential adopter will fill out the Adoption Application which will then be reviewed, the information on the application will be verified, and references will be checked. Then, if the application is approved, a home inspection will be conducted, which will lead to a Meet and Greet with the potential adopter’s entire family and pets to ensure that the home and family will be a good match for the FFR dog.

If the applicant is approved and the environment is a good fit, the adoption will be finalized with an adoption fee to the rescue and the signing of an Adoption Contract.

More about this rescue

Freedom Farm Rescue’s mission is to rescue, provide sanctuary, rehabilitate and ultimately to find permanent loving homes for abandoned, stray and neglected dogs. We are located in Charlotte, NC.

Most rescued dogs need to re-learn how to be beloved companions and our dedicated volunteers provide that to them through love, training, and therapy.

We closely evaluate the temperament and personality of the dogs and take into consideration the nature of the breed before placing them in their forever homes. This is done to further prevent the abandonment of dogs by closely aligning the dog's personality and needs with an owner's lifestyle.

Our goal is to place animals in loving, responsible, committed permanent homes, following a comprehensive adoption process and educating prospective owners as necessary about the responsibilities and costs of bringing an animal into their homes and lives.

Finally, we strive to work with shelters and other rescue and humane organizations across the country to develop a network of supporters and volunteers in order to create a better world for homeless pets.
