My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

RDVG DOES NOT ADOPT TO MASSACHUSETTS/RHODE ISLAND RESIDENTS
Due to laws regarding rescue dogs being prohibited from adoption. Please see phone numbers and links to the regulator agencies regarding adopting dogs in your state at the end of each of our dog’s bio.

DOG: DARBY
GENDER: FEMALE
DOB: 3 YEARS OLD
WEIGHT: 50 approx
BREED: Catahoula Mix
LOCATION: Delhi, LA
ADOPTION FEE: $450.00 (includes transport)’

ADOPTED ON 06-01-23 Due to lack of funds, Darby has been in rescue for a year. She was dropped off down the road at a neighbor’s house in Louisiana, not far from RDVG’S partner, Patricia. She tells us that the owner live right on the road and she was afraid she would get killed on the road because the family does not let dogs inside their house Patricia took her in to so she would be safe but when tested for Heartworm, she was positive.

Darby is about two to three years old, she is spayed and ready for heartworm treatment soon. She is drop dead beautiful and a sweet dog with a very kind heart when it comes to people and children and other dogs. Darby foster describes her as black and white that is super kind and friendly. She tells us that Darby is the one dog that will always pick up a leaf give it to Patricia when she goes to her pen. Patricia says it’s like she wants to give me something and that’s all she’s got to give so she finds me a pretty leaf.

Patricia does not recommend cats around her because she has been in the pen with Marsha and Mona who do NOT like cats and she now barks at them also and acts like she would like to get them!

Like the Catahoula breed, Darby is intelligent, affectionate, loyal, and gentle and would love to be part of a family. She will love spending time around a family, especially if this involves doing something active to burn off energy. Catahoula Leopard Dog are well suited to active families who are used to owning a dog.

Darby is very smart, gentle and will make a good pet for an active family, she really is a perfect dog. We are looking for a family that will have lots of room in their hearts for a dog that was dumped and not cared for by her previous owner. If you are looking to make a difference this year to a deserving dog in need then don’t wait --she's the ultimate little buddy!

Get your application in, she will not disappoint you as a companion and family member!

Heartworm is very expensive and we are looking for donations for help. Darby needs to find a home and get the love that she gives to Patricia and her family. Please consider donating for Darby’s heartworm treatment.
