Here's what the humans have to say about me:
My name is Ranger and I am an honorary Basset. I am really a Beagle, but don’t have a lot of typical Beagle traits. For example, I don’t bark, not ever. My foster family isn’t sure if my prior family trained me not to bark or if it’s just not in my nature. And I’d make a terrible hunting dog as I just don’t chase after critters. I ignore them and pay them no mind at all.
I was found as a stray and best guess is that I am about 7 years old. I am sure I lived with a family not too far in the past because I am thoroughly housetrained, crate trained, and well-behaved in the car or on a leash for walks. I have such a calm and gentle personality that I’d be great in a home with children of any age or the perfect companion for seniors. I am very laid back and totally content to just watch the world go on around me.
I like napping and can often be found asleep on the couch or curled up near my foster mom’s feet while she’s working from home. I sleep soundly through the night and patiently wait for my family to wake in the morning. I love treats and snacks and my favorite time of day is when dad is handing out the goodies. I love getting pets and scratches and will gently paw your thigh to ask you for some love.
I learned the routine here quickly and would easily fit into any home or family. I’d be best in a home with a very secure fence, an invisible fence or always on a leash. That’s one Beagle trait I do have, a bit of wanderlust, and can wiggle out of the smallest gaps. I never get far and always come back when called but better to be safe than sorry.
I hope we can meet soon so you can see for yourself that I am the bestest boy ever!!! Please contact BROOD today!!! My adoption fee is $250.00.
**Only BROOD approved adopters can meet a dog (no exceptions). Our adoption application is on the BROOD website at https://brood-va.org/adoptionapp/. We adopt to residents of Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, DC, Delaware and southern Pennsylvania. Do not apply to adopt from BROOD if you live in another state. We require a virtual home visit and a veterinary reference.
The age of many BROOD dogs is unknown, as very few come with official records. The estimate on the dog’s age is usually the initial estimate given by the receiving shelter, which may be different from that given at the time of the initial checkup. Different veterinarians may also give different ages, and those different opinions are sometimes reflected on the record. ***BROOD’s adoption fees are determined based on age of the dog. 02/19/2023
