Here's what the humans have to say about me:
I am a black Bassador named Bernie. I have lots of young dog energy and, since I was found as a stray, the best guess is that I am about 2 years old. I need a family with at least another dog, or even a cat, to play with that has a high activity level like I do.
I am house trained and crate trained. I whine and howl when first crated but quickly settle down. I do like people but can be a little shy when first meeting strangers. I get along great with kids but would prefer a home with children over age 5. When I get the zoomies, I don't pay much attention to where I'm going and could accidentally knock a small child down.
I definitely need a home with a fenced yard so I can run and play as much as I'd like. When I'm done playing, I like a good snooze in the sun. And no townhouse or apartment living for me, I'm a bit loud and might not make a great neighbor in such a small space.
I like all sorts of toys, I have a favorite squeaky toy I carry with me. And love chewing on Nylabones. I am a very playful guy and need to be kept busy. When my day is done, I am down for a cuddle on the couch with some belly rubs!
Can we make a play date?? Please contact BROOD today!!! My adoption fee is $250.00.
**Only BROOD approved adopters can meet a dog (no exceptions). Our adoption application is on the BROOD website at https://brood-va.org/adoptionapp/. We adopt to residents of Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, DC, Delaware and southern Pennsylvania. Do not apply to adopt from BROOD if you live in another state. We require a virtual home visit and a veterinary reference.
The age of many BROOD dogs is unknown, as very few come with official records. The estimate on the dog's age is usually the initial estimate given by the receiving shelter, which may be different from that given at the time of the initial checkup. Different veterinarians may also give different ages, and those different opinions are sometimes reflected on the record. ***BROOD's adoption fees are determined based on age of the dog. 02/19/2023
