Ruger is a tender-hearted boy who was rescued from a rural shelter in Texas just in the nick of time. When he first came into our care, he didn’t even have a name—just a forgotten soul in desperate need of love. Once he realized he was safe and loved, he blossomed into the sweetest companion anyone could hope for.

After his rescue, Ruger journeyed to New York, where he found what we thought was his forever family. For two wonderful years, he thrived in a loving home. Sadly, when his adoptive parents welcomed a new baby, they could no longer provide him the attention he so deserves, and Ruger found himself back at our Adoption Center. His return left him confused and scared, tugging at our heartstring he deserves more—he deserves a forever family of his own. Ruger would truly flourish as the sole pet in a household without other animals. He is the ideal companion, embodying all the best traits of a Labrador. He absolutely adores splashing in water, chasing after balls, and enjoying long walks.

But he’s not just an adventure seeker; Ruger is also a snuggler. He loves nothing more than leaning into you for some gentle pets or laying his head on your lap, gazing up at you with those enchanting eyes that are impossible to resist. All this sweet boy needs is a loving human or two, some tasty treats, a soft bed, and plenty of affection. Ruger is already house-trained, making him an easy addition to your life. An application, agreement, personal reference check, vet reference check and home visit are required.

Adoption fees are below. All of our animals are microchipped, up to date on vaccines and fully vetted.

Puppies under 1 year : $495
Adults 1-9 years: $375
Adults 9+ years: $300
Special Needs Animals: dependant on specific animal and his or her needs

ADDITIONAL DEPOSIT of $125 for spay/ neuter for all unaltered dogs unless the spay/neuter

We are located at 46 Sodom Road, Brewster, NY. You can come stop by 7 days a week from 11am-4pm. While we have 15-18 dogs housed at our adoption center, the majority of our dogs are located in private foster homes.

SNARR Northeast Animal Rescue's mission is "Giving Hope to the Hopeless.” SNARR stands for Special Needs Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation. We do focus on animals with special needs but we also rescue perfectly healthy dogs as well! SNARR works with municipal shelters all over the country to save animals at risk for being euthanized. Our dogs (and cats) are all in foster homes prior to being adopted.
