Meet Ruger! Ruger is a handsome 5-6 year old lab mix.
Ruger was rescued from a rural shelter in Texas at the 11th hour. This sweet boy didn't even have a name, he was just a forgotten soul. He was so confused when he was rescued but he quickly turned into the sweetest boy and so happy once he knew he was rescued and safe.
We brought Ruger to NY where he was adopted out to who we thought would be his forever family. Unfortunately, after being a good boy for two years in a home with his family, Ruger's adoptive parents had a baby and they could no longer care for Ruger, so he was returned. Poor Ruger was so confused and scared when he got to our shelter in NY it broke our hearts. Fortunately we were able to place him with an experienced foster and he's been living with them ever since.
Ruger really is a good boy. He has all the great qualities of a lab, he loves water, chasing a ball, and taking long walks around the neighborhood or park. He is always up for an adventure, but equally loves chilling out with his humans.
Ruger would be happiest as an only dog and in a home without cats as he likes to “retrieve” them. All he needs are his people, some snuggles, yummy food, and a cozy bed to call his own. Ruger is already house trained.
Ruger likes to leans into you for pets and belly rubs, or to just lay his head on your lap an looks at you with those beautiful eyes, which you will without a doubt fall in love with. This boy deserves to have a family that will love him forever, could that be you??

Please note that SNARR NE is a volunteer-based organization. While our volunteers will try to respond to you as quickly as possible, it is helpful if you review the below information about our adoption process before emailing:
LISTED BREED(S) & AGE: We are taking our best guess on age, breed, and size when fully grown, based on the puppy's/dog's physical appearance and what we might have learned about one or both parents depending on the situation. *NOTE* We rarely know a dog's exact age, nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. Because we often do not have access to medical records at the time that we are listing for dogs for adoption, there are sometimes discrepancies between what is posted on their profile and what might be listed on a dog's medical records.
SNARR'S ADOPTION PROCESS: The first step in adopting or meeting a SNARR dog/puppy is to fill out an application at https://snarrnortheast.org/adopt/. Once we receive your application, one of our adoption application processors will contact you, review our adoption process with you, and answer any additional questions you may have. **We do not go on a first-come-first-serve basis for adoptions, but on best fit for a family and most importantly the puppy or dog. **
MEETING ADOPTABLE DOGS: Meet and greets will not be scheduled until after your adoption application has been fully processed and approved by one of our adoption processors.
APPLYING ONLINE: If you fill out an online application, please do so from a computer (not a mobile device), make sure you answer ALL the questions in as much detail as possible, and that you receive a confirmation email. If you do not receive a confirmation email, that means we did NOT receive your application.
