My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Oreo, aka Buster, listed as a Basenji/Pug mix was recently pulled from a local shelter. We think he may be a Pug/Smooth Fox Terrier mix as he looks a lot like the RCA dog which was a smooth fox terrier mix. We don’t know why he was in the shelter originally, but he was adopted by someone that brought him back to the shelter because he had too much energy for them. He is a lively little guy and he could possibly have some Jack Russell Terrier in him also. His approximate date of birth is 12/30/21. On 2/21/23 he weighed 25 pounds, which seems to be a good weight for him. He is said to be good with dogs, cats, and children, and loves toys and chasing a ball. He gets along with all the dogs in his foster home. His foster mom says he is very smart and attentive. He listens well and seems to try to do what you ask of him. He is good on a leash but needs to be reminded not to pull. He is also good in the car and is always ready for an adventure. Oreo is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and being kept on heartworm and flea and tick prevention to maintain his good health. Due to his high energy level, he will need a home with a fenced backyard and an active family would be great for him. A jogger or runner that he could accompany would be something he would probably enjoy as well. Oreo is located in Arkansas. The adoption donation for Oreo is $415 which includes the $165 transport fee. If you are interested in adopting Oreo, please complete the first step in the adoption process by filling out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers.
After you submit your application, please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home.
Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.
