Recognize Shandy? This is her second time looking for a home through Finding Shelter but through no fault of her own!

Shandy is a loving, loyal, happy, protective dog. She loves the people she considers family with all of her heart, but she gets anxious on a leash sometimes when new people approach quickly. Unfortunately, in the first home that adopted her, Shandy was permitted to interact with a child who approached her while she was on a walk and she nipped the child. Not her fault, not the child’s fault. Despite supporting all our adoptions with a lifetime of behavioral consultations and advice from our trainer, we were not notified of any issues or the bite until two weeks before her adopters were moving and wanted to return her. Behavior and management help was offered and declined.

Thankfully, Shandy is pretty much the same dog we have always known and loved she was just incredibly depressed to be without a family again. Dogs know what they are missing when they lose their homes and Shandy is no exception. She knows that she lost what we all thought was her family forever but for Shandy not all hope is lost.

Shandy needs a very experienced and dog savvy home with people 100% committed to working with her and properly managing her at home and outside of her home. She is a good dog she just unfortunately had some very back luck. It’s time to turn that luck around. Will you be her lucky charm?

More about this rescue

Finding Shelter is a no-kill rescue committed to the saving, rehabilitation, training, and permanent placement of dogs and cats in need of loving homes. A strong committment to animals and people enables us to both save and place animals and to educate the public.

Another part of our mission is to raise awareness of the plight of animals and to the beauty of adopting animals in need of forever loving homes.

Careful screening of all potential adopters allows the best match possible between animal and adopter.

All of our animals are spayed or neutered, fully vaccinated, and medically treated. We do not discriminate based on breed age, or health status of the animal.

Our animals come from shelters that frequently euthanize for space or from owners who can no longer care for them for a variety of reasons. We also accept and place companion animals who are unwanted, neglected, or who are released from puppy mills.
