Here's what the humans have to say about me:
The only girl in the litter, Nori is a little princess - and she wants to use your lap as her throne.
HISTORY
The Yummipups were dumped in Eastern Washington in January and early February. The first four - Sushi, Gyoza, Miso and Pocky - showed up on the side of a highway far from any houses. Katsu and Nori were picked up a few weeks later, so although we don't know for sure they are part of the same litter, they certainly look and behave like litter mates. They were all scared and stressed when we took them in, but a few weeks in a loving foster home have transformed them into heolthy, happy pups who quickly respond well to new friends.
Their breed mix is based on our best guess, and probably several different sires were involved in making this litter. Most of them are probably part Heeler, one is almost certainly part Great Pyrenees, a couple may be part Border Collie or Australian Shepherd.
TEMPERAMENT AND BEHAVIOR
Nori wants to please the humans. She tends to be a little cautious when dealing with change, but if she knows what you want of her, she tries to comply. She's an outgoing, playful, super-friendly pup who loves toys - and especially loves it when the people will play with the toys with her.
All the pups in this litter are socialized. They're comfortable with children and willing to make friends with kind adults. With the older dogs in the foster home they're as respectful as any adolescent, and they're playful with each other. The cats in the foster home are shy, so the pups are familiar with them but haven't interacted closely with them.
While they are part herding breed pups, they're pretty laid back, with moderate energy level. They're playful and enjoy a good run, but when playtime is over they settle easily.
Although they're past the early puppy stage, the Yummis are PUPPIES. They still don't have manners! They jump up on people, they're mouthy, and they love to grab things and chew on whatever you leave lying around. They need a steady supply of toys and other chews to keep them occupied, and training as to what is and isn't theirs.
TRAINING
Potty training is a work in progress, but accidents are rare. Provided they have a good routine and are taken outside often, they probably won't have accidents. They are not potty pad trained as potty pads are for shredding!
Although they know they're supposed to come when called, they're becoming independent-minded. Teaching your pup recall will be your first fun job! Their fosters have been working since day one to accustom them to walking on a leash, but (and we can only guess why) most of them are quite scared of the leash, so this will require ongoing, patient training.
These pups are mostly pretty smart. Build their confidence and keep it fun, and they'll be a delight to train! They have learned the routines in their foster home, and will adapt well when you make your routines and expectations clear.
We provide the best information on each pup that we can, but once your adoption application is approved we encourage you to meet all the available puppies before deciding which one to take home.
PHYSICAL & HEALTH STATUS
Based on a vet's opinion of their probable age, we've assigned them 8/15/2022 as their birthday. When full grown, we expect Nori to weigh around 45-55 lbs.
They have been sterilized, fully vaccinated, treated for internal parasites, and microchipped. They appear to be in excellent health.
ADOPTION INFORMATION
The Yummis are living in a private home, and will be available to meet potential adopters after an adoption application has been approved.
