My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Nahqui CAN BE SEEN AT A MEET AND GREET ADOPTION EVETENT AT PETCO IN ROSEVILLS, Saturday February 18 at 12 noon to 2:00. 2775 North Fairview 55113

Nahqui is sweet finely built puppy that we BELIEVE is a Chihuahua /Kelpie or Shep X. who we think is about 9-10 weeks old. DNA testing done on dogs from this are usually shows 15-20 breeds contributing to doggie's genetic makeup. We think she will be in the upper end of small breed or lower end of mid-size. She weighs 11# now. Nahqui was surrendered by her family as they had two dogs that had litters at the same time and wanted to find good homes for them. They surrendered one pup from each litter to PUP and the rest to another rescue. Nahqui is very sociable and has had lots of socializing with children and adults. She is a healthy, happy, well socialized pup ready to find her forever home. She is a busy little girl who loves to be held and cuddled but also has places to go and things to do, like chewing on a rawhide. She went to a meet and greet and was the hit of the show. She was constantly being held or cuddled, by someone.

The early months are when puppy learns the social skills needed to be a skilled dog in dealing with other dogs and a good citizen in the human world. Adopters should be committed to getting puppy into lots of new and different human social situations, hearing vacuums, trucks, and rattling garbage cans, meeting people who are clapping, laughing, with hats, tools, bikes and skate boards. AND puppy needs many opportunities to meet and greet dogs of all shapes, sizes and dispositions. Just sharing a home with another dog is not as much doggie socializing as puppy needs. If good canine social skills are not learned and maintained during these early months, it will be very difficult to ever master them. Puppy play dates, trips to the pet store, puppy socialization classes and later, obedience classes are particularly important. If all this doggie time and involvement seems like a good idea, you are up for a puppy! As always, a tired dog is a good dog.

Nahqui has been vet checked, wormed and had her first routine vaccinations. She will need one more routine vaccination plus rabies at the owner’s expense. The $375 adoption fee (check or cash) includes the cost of pup’s required spay/neuter at 6 months of age provided it is done by one of the PUP vets. We do place puppies outside the metro area but a plan for the required spay/neuter must be in place. We do not ship.

IF YOUR ARE AT LEAST 21 YEARS OLD AND EVERYONE IN YOUR HOUSEHOLD IS ON BOARD WITH ADOPTING A PUPPY CALL 651-645-4370 between 7:00 am and 9:30 pm and we will return your call within 24 hours. If you elect to contact us via e-mail it may take several weeks for us to get back to you. Renters must provide proof that you are allowed to have a puppy. Please be prepared to provide a vet reference prior to adoption if you currently have a companion animal.
