Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Zaza is intelligent and strong willed. She is a very good guard dog, and her senses are on point. She loves to play with my nieces and nephews. And she does like to jump up on you when you walk up to her, a habit I am trying to break from her doing. She will bark when strangers enter the house. Once she see’s who it is she will stop if she knows them, but if not, we move her to another location. Zaza knows commands , sit, go home (to crate), potty ( she goes to the door to go outside) paw, (she will give you her paw) down, (she will stop jumping on you) and off (she will get off the furniture). The downside is when she does not feel like listening to a command, she does not. She can be very stubborn. The upside is that she will listen to all commands when she knows you have a snack/treat in your hand. She is a beautiful dog. She sheds twice a year. We have a backyard that she loves to run and jump in, and she is determined to catch a rabbit. Like I mentioned, she is a very good guard dog so she needs to sleep in a room away from too much noise, unless one of your goals is to have a pet that can make you aware of any nighttime intruders.
We honestly did not do our research on the type of experience and training needed to care for a Chow Chow. I originally bought her for my daughter who was working from home. When her job required her to travel, I took the responsibility to keep her trying to avoid rehoming her in Oct 2022. I tried to get a WFH job as I noticed Zaza needed to get training. I was unable to secure a WFH job and now have mandatory overtime and spend 11.5 hours a day away from home from the time I leave to the time I return. I have been having people come and let her out and I also leave work if no one is available. This can only be a temporary solution. And schedule does not leave me with proper time and availability to spend time with Zaza and train her like she needs and deserves.
