Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Woof! My official name is Ruby, but I've been called Remi most of my life. You see, I originally came to DLRR as a stray from the shelter when I was 10 months old. I'm now 8 years old and about 65 pounds. I was with my first family for about 4 years. They loved me but I really didn't like the other dog in the family. My adopters tried diligently to make it work but we just couldn't get along. The family decided it was best for me to go. I was then adopted in 2020 and loved my life of being an only dog in the family. My new adopter was good at working with me on leash so that I wasn't so reactive around other dogs out on a walk. She loved me so much and always called me her gem! Sadly she fell and broke her hip (not my fault!) and she was having other mobility issue and she felt that it was best to surrender me back to DLRR where I could find a more active family. My former mom said my personality is delightful and that I'm sweet, smart and kind. I miss her but I'm adapting well and continuing to work with a trainer on my leash reaction to other dogs and animals. I have good control when my handler refocuses my attention. I obey well and take commands which I'm very responsive. I just need you to remind me when I get distracted. I want to please you. You see, I've been through a lot in my life and I sometimes can't help my natural instinct. I have the devotion, loyalty and unconditional love for humans. When my tail wags, all is good in my world, and I do that a lot.
I have basic training and obedience skills perfected. I'm very loving, affectionate, and silly! I'm playful and enjoy cuddling with you. I love attention! Belly pats, chest rubs, water and bath time are my favorites, but I don't like the blow dryer. When it comes to treats I have a very soft mouth. I love car rides, laying in the sun, finding a quiet, sheltered place to rest. I can be trusted if left alone in the house and I like my crate too. I don't jump on people or furniture. I am very respectful of my surroundings. I love meeting new people after greeting them with a loud bark which leads me to say, I'm an excel- lent watchdog. I'm a pro in the back yard "hunting" for creatures like rabbits and lizards.
The best family for me would be a loving, kind-hearted person who can continue to work on my reactivity when out and about on leash. My trainer, Emily, will teach you everything you need to know. She'll also show you my cute stompie trick.
