Name: Pops
Nickname: Popsy. Bubs.
Breed: Labrador mix
Weight: 65 lbs.
Sex: Male
Age: 2 years
Before OMD: Pops and his puppies were dropped off at a veterinary office, very sick with parvo. We committed to the family and, while his puppies recovered and made it into foster homes relatively quickly, Pops’ case was severe and he was hospitalized much longer.
During OMD: Pops completed a two month board and train program with Dogs360. He did amazingly well and his trainer absolutely loves him. He is now in a dedicated foster who continues to work with him.
Key descriptors: Smart. Well-behaved. Fun. Obedient. Energetic. Loyal.
Energy level: He’s a young lab so…working-dog high. He wants to work, hike, run, play, zoom, fetch, and work some more.
Way to his heart: Fetch. Any toy will do. He does enjoy an extra victory lap before bringing the item back to you.
Affection level: Lower – he’s not going to be your on the couch snuggler. He does enjoy pets and belly rubs
Stranger danger: Very high. Introductions to new people should be very slow. Building his trust is key and the best path to success
What he loves: Toys of all types – he doesn't even destroy his plush ones. All the treats. Learning new skills.
What he knows: Sit. Here. Stay. Free. Ready (to play, come out of his crate, and for affection). Out (drop). Enough. Paw. Place. Bring it. Get it. Lay Down.
Dogs: Has met and socialized with many dogs while with his trainer and did well. He is high energy and playful with other pups
Cats: Probably not.
Kids: No thanks!
House-broken: Perfectly!
Crate-trained: Yep, does best when he has something with him to occupy him (he’s eager to taste test your best frozen Kong recipe)
Ideal home: A dedicated person, with a quiet home, looking for a fiercely loyal and smart companion. Someone who knows earning his trust is worth the work. A home who will keep him mentally and physically stimulated to help him be his best self
*Dogs360 provides lifelong follow up help for dogs they've worked with even after they go to their forever homes!*
Pops is neutered, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He is available for adoption to CT and surrounding states. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an application from omdrescue.org

When a dog is adopted through One More Dog, an adoption contract must be signed, and we ask that a donation in the amount of $500 ($350 for seniors) be made at the time of adoption to help our rescue cover a portion of the costs we incur through pull fees, vetting, and training.
Applications can be found here: http://www.omdrescue.org/adoptapp.html
*We will adopt to approved applicants (who are able to meet & adopt in person) who live in CT and the surrounding areas: New England, New York, and New Jersey.
