Nikita, Nickie for short, is a lovely Russian Blue mix female born approximately 10/11/2021.
Hi, I’m Nickie, a shy but sweet girl who has spent several years in foster care, waiting for the right person to give me a chance. I’ve been in a multi-cat foster home, which has made it hard for me to feel safe and learn how to trust my surroundings. I’m brave enough to come out for treats when I hear my name, but I quickly scarf them down, always keeping my eyes and ears on high alert. I often have to run off before I can even finish, as the other cats sometimes make me feel scared.
I once had a foster brother who was my friend, but he’s gone to live with an elderly gentleman now. I miss him, but I think I’d really flourish as the only kitty in a calm and peaceful home where I don’t have to worry about other cats. I would love to know what it feels like to truly relax and trust my environment. My foster mom tells me I could be so happy and thrive if I could just learn to trust, and I know the right person could help me do that.
I’m super sweet and I do enjoy playing when I get the chance, though I don’t get to do it as much as I’d like. I know I could be the loving, playful companion you've been looking for if only someone would give me the chance. My foster mom believes in me, and she thinks I could thrive with the right family. Will you be the one to show me what it feels like to be loved and cherished, and to help me finally feel at home?
Please consider taking a chance on me. I’m ready to trust and love again with someone who will be patient and kind.
Nickie is microchipped and currently in a foster home. Her adoption fee is $105.

Adopters must be 21 years or older and willing to invest the time and money required to care for a pet. In addition to providing love and attention, regular medical care is required. Please ask if you would like more information about veterinary fees and costs.
Our animals come from a variety of situations. Some have been dumped at shelters or vets, and many are ill or malnourished when rescued. Although the animal has been in a protected environment, there is the possibility of unrecognized illness appearing after an adoption is finalized, especially because of the stress the animal may experience during the first few days at its new home. We advise adopters of the animal's known history and provide its veterinary records, but frequently we know only what the animal chooses to tell us. We cannot make any guarantee regarding the long-term health of any animal. Adoption fees are generally not refundable unless prior arrangements are made.
If you feel that you are ready to adopt, please e-mail adoptions@nbcrtx.org for prompt attention. A NBCR adoption counselor will contact you to arrange an interview.
