Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Available for adoption in Orlando, FL
Cielo came to us from a rough past where he was living outside. He has adapted very well to living inside and being spoiled. He is ready to find his Furever home!!
Cielo is a beautiful, 5 year old, 60 lb, male blue merle Australian Shepherd. He has split color Amber/Blue eyes and a full tail. He is extremely affectionate and thrives on positive reinforcement!
Cielo is very smart and eager to please but also stubborn. He is true definition of a velcro dog. He loves to be right next to someone, he will likely be at your feet or at your side. He will follow you wherever you go. He is on the high energy side of being an Aussie and frequently gets the zoomies. He doesn't know his own size so may not be best for small children or homes with many breakable items. Cielo truly wants all the love and attention he can get. He is very tolerant of most things but will give warning if he is uncomfortable. He loves the attention of being brushed, bathed, and pampered (minus clipping his nails).
Cielo will do best someone that can keep up with training. He can be reactive with boundaries (mainly fences) He may jump and bark, normally with excitement, but does very well with redirection. His Foster mom has introduced him to new people and he is welcoming once the guests show him affection. He has done well on outings with foster mom. Someone experienced with high energy breeds is important as he is very high energy, inquisitive, and stubborn.
He will do best with someone who has the time to keep him busy. He likes to be doing whatever his people are doing. Cooking? He will taste test. Putting together furniture? He will test its durability. Gardening? He will help dig holes. He does well being left alone for a few hours. He likes everything to be all about him so he would be best as an only dog but may do well with smaller dogs. He does not do well with larger dogs. He is learning basic commands and manners and picks them up very quickly as he wants to please. He does well on a leash.
He loves squishmallow stuffies, blankets, and many other soft items so much he will destuff or chew on them. His foster mom says even though she never showed him how to use the potty bells on the door, he figured it out. He helps her carry in the mail and is learning other jobs around the house. He loves car rides and if the door opens, he is in ready to go!
He will make an excellent dog for someone who who can show him a lot of affection.
Cielo would do best in a home with a fenced yard or private access to a space to run off-leash that is fenced. A home with older children would be fine. He has not been tested with cats yet.
Cielo is neutered, up to date on vaccines, on heartworm, flea and tick prevention, and is house trained. Cielo is crate trained; he does not enjoy being by himself in enclosed spaces, like a room where he cannot be near his people.
If Cielo sounds like a great fit for you, please fill out the application:
There is an addition $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to his new furever family. All adoption fees are used for future rescue efforts.
