Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet CiCi. CiCi and her sister were left outside on a chain without any place to get out of the rain and the cold. When her owner was threatened by the authorities, both girls were surrendered to the local shelter. Her sister was adopted right away and CiCi came to ASF. She was about 10 pounds underweight (down 25% of her total body weight) and she had a horrible case of hookworms. (They were so bad that they were causing her to cough and wheeze.) After 2 rounds of medicine, good food, a warm bed, and lots of TLC, she’s happy and healthy and ready to find her furever home.
CiCi very quickly and happily adapted to life indoors, and continues to be fascinated by the dog that looks just like her (in the mirror). She checks for her every day. She enjoys playing with her foster dog siblings and is rather submissive to all of them, even the 5 month old puppy. She is aware of the cat in her foster home, but doesn’t show much interest other than an occasional sniff here and there.
What CiCi LOVES though is being with her humans, that’s when she is the happiest. She wants nothing more than to make up for lost time. She has the sweetest, most loving personality. She loves to be petted and will stay in your lap as long as you have a hand on her.
She sleeps quietly in her kennel at night although she would love to be snuggled next to you on the bed. She is potty trained and has not had any accidents in the house when taken out regularly. She walks well on a leash with a harness but will continue to need work to hone her leash skills.
When she gets excited, she does like to jump up and try to get more attention. We have been working on the “off” command and she is getting better every day. CiCi also will give an “Aussie smile”, showing her teeth. This could be mistaken by someone not familiar with the expression. There is absolutely no aggression in this sweet girl.
She enjoys car rides and going to dog friendly stores (more people to give her more love.) She has had limited contact with children but wiggles her way up to them for pets when she meets them. She would most likely love a young human to call her own. (Because of her tendency to jump up when excited, very young children may not be the best fit for her however.)
She is very food motivated and is learning “sit” and “wait” for her breakfast and dinner. A slow feeder is highly recommended for her as she is still not used to having a full belly. Hopefully that will change over time.
CiCi is about 3yo and is now just under 40 pounds. She is UTD on vaccines, spayed, and on HW and flea/tick prevention. All adoption fees are used to help other dogs and puppies like CiCi. She is being fostered in Jackson, Ohio.
