My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mikey came to us with his brother, Monroe.  They are an owner surrender and we were told the parents were Mountain Dog and Heeler.  Mikey has been outside in a pen all of his life and not given much attention, so he is a little shy. He doesn't potty in his pen here, so would be easy to housetrain. Mikey loves to go for walks and chew on bones. He is a pretty neat guy once you get to know him.

If you have any questions or would like to come meet Mikey, please go to our website www.schspets.org and complete an adoption application. We will contact you after that!

More about this shelter

The Stone County Humane Society is a 501(C)(3) private organization, not a government entity that was formed in 1999. We rescue dogs and cats and are a no-kill shelter but we are not an open take in facility. We are currently operating from our new shelter building recently completed in August 2016 and a cat cottage. Our organization is managed by a volunteer board of 10 individuals and a full-time paid employee shelter manager that handles the day to day operations, and three part-time paid employees that feed and care for the animals and keep the facility clean. Most of our daily operations are funded by proceeds from a Second Chance Shop in town and donations from individuals. We also provide low cost spay/neuter clinics to the people of our county with help from a local vet.
