To Fiji's Forever Owners from her Foster Momma: Fiji is an amazing dog that has been through a lot, because of her past she can be slow to trust strangers. Please don't hold that against her, she's still a work in progress as we all are. Please be patient & honor her fears. Show her that she's safe now. Once Fiji got used to my resident dogs, she was amazing with them! Even when they would get jealous of attention or growl over a treat, she was totally unreactive and would just remove herself from their space to let them get over it. She loves walks, playing with toys, TREATS & MORE TREATS. She is fully outdoor potty-trained but will begrudgingly go on potty pads if you work long days & she can't hold it until you get home. She loves belly rubs and snuggling up next to you on the couch. Thank you so much for letting Fiji relearn how to just be a dog. She deserves a long life full of love and reassurance. I guarantee she'll return the favor. 😊
A love letter to Fiji: My dear Fiji, it's been amazing to watch you grow the last 5 weeks... from the terrified, under-weight, malnourished, fiercely protective momma to the brave, adventurous, resilient dog you are today. The momma bear in you reminds me of my own mothering nature; always aware of your surroundings (I swear you can count because when we get back into your "den", you walk around to do inventory & if even one pup is missing you'd look at me for an explanation), even when I know you are famished you always let your puppies eat before you get your serving (well, not always, there are some treats that are just too good to share), and even when you are exhausted, you always jump up to tend to any noises from your pups. I'll miss my Fiji hugs, how you lean your head into my chest to tell me how you know it's been a long day, but how thankful you are for my love. I'll miss your spontaneous moments of youthful playfulness. I'll miss how even when you want to not listen to your person, you'll pause & then begrudgingly listen to instruction anyways. I'll miss the initial quite scratches & whines when it's time for a potty break, to the frantic insistence when you can't hold it anymore & you need to go NOW. I'll miss the love, trust & appreciation that you hold in your big brown eyes whenever you look at me. Fiji, I was so blessed to get to be your foster & I'm so excited for you to get to go live the life that a dog that's amazing as you are deserves. My heart is with you always, Your foster momma
