Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
*** THIS DOG IS LOCATE IN LOUISIANA ***
*** SPECIAL NEEDS:
My name is Cole Porter - I am about 7 years old. I come from a Louisiana breeder that needs to close their doors due to personal health issues. I am not a puppy mill dog - I was born and raised in a quality facility and was well cared for but in the past year, my owners health has declined so much that they could not care for us - they asked for help but that didn't work out either so they decided to reach out to NYSRR for help in finding us all forever homes.
The folks that know me say that I am the best of best of labby personalities. Just a big sweet, lovable goofball who gets along with all other dogs and peoples too. My brothers and sisters are getting adopted and I still wait. They tell me that I have a genetic disease that is starting to effect my vision. It is called progressing retinal atrophy (PRA). Sounds scary! It effects my vision - kind of like old people with eye problems. Things will get blurry as I age. I am told that it is not life threatening just a bit of life changing but it happens so gradually that my other senses, like my nose and hearing help me to overcome some of these issues. Most folks who have a dog with this issue do not even realize - but the NYSRR peeps took me in for testing to see if they could do anything special for me. They say there is really nothing they can do - but maybe find me the most PERFECT home with people that will love me and care for me no matter what!!!
I have been living all of my life in this kennel, getting yard privilege's of course with my buddies but what I really want is to spend the rest of my days in one of those big bolster beds, resting by your feet watching football!!
NYSRR is a small rescue located on Long Island. This is where our professional resources are located, so we ask that our adopters also be located on or nearby LI. If this applies to you, and you are interested in hearing more about our rescue and the dogs we serve, please begin by filling out our online application at NYSRR.COM .
We look forward to hearing from you!
