01-15-2023: So I've been watching some "Vikings Valhalla" on Netflix while working on IBR Thank You cards and decided to name our new beagle puppy after Leif Eriksson- one of the heros of the series. The real Leif was an explorer-- and probably the first European to arrive in North America. Beagles -- as a rule-- are explorers to and our Leif the Lucky is going to have a better life now that he is in IBR foster care.

You may recognize Barry the Bassett/Beagle, but the other Beagle is Ella-- one of 4000 saved this past year. She is so sweet and to think she would have been sold for research-- living in a lab and potential euthanized after she was no longer useful-- is heart breaking.
Ella and Barry made Little Leif welcome and his foster family is committed to helping gain some much needed weight.

Blood work on Leif the Lucky shows his neglect including some anemia and some elevated liver values. He is eating 3X's a day and gaining weight quickly. He can't be neutered for at least a month so we are only looking for Foster to Adopt. Potential adopters need to live in the Chicago area and must have a safe fenced in yard. They must also enjoy CUDDLES!!
