Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Rusty is a wonderful little fellow. He melts under your touch and has a great demeanor and personality. He is on the smaller side which makes him extremely agile…as in “a bit of an escape artist”. He can climb a chain link fence, squeeze under one that is not flush to the ground and has been sighted trying to squeeze through the bars of another fence. He might have his mind on adventure, but he has not established himself enough in a home yet to understand the benefits of “sticking around”. He seems to want to escape when he is left alone- he wants to be with people. It doesn’t appear to be prey drive, more “people” drive.
Rusty loves people most, and might distrust some other dogs at first- he will growl to establish himself, and if the other dog doesn’t respond to him in a negative way, he will feel secure and let it go. Rusty is a diamond in the rough and is great with kids. Rusty would be best with a family with no other pets, or ones who are pretty laid back not to fuss with his initial grumblings. He is a sweetie though and you will have a great companion and snuggler!! Rusty needs a 5 ½ foot plus wood privacy or stockade fence- this is a must! Please submit an adoption application at www.americanbrittanyrescue.org if you are interested in Rusty.
History:
Rusty was rescued from a shelter in Lexington, VA. He was brought up to date on his vaccinations and neutered. He tested negative for Heartworms, but the results came back a light positive for Lymes. He is currently on a regimen of Doxicyclene as a proactive measure and shows no clinical signs of the Lymes
