Toby von Bravo is a very handsome 7-8 year old lab mix (our best guess). This ginger boy with the sweet face has a heart full of love and has captured all our hearts at the rescue. After spending time in a foster home, Toby has come out of his shell to show that he is charming, smart, and super sweet. He loves being with people, he'll come over for cuddles, follow you around, and he has done well with children. Toby is also house trained, has mastered a few basic commands and is eager to please. He has learned the joy of toys and looks forward to playtime. At about 50lbs, he's a very manageable size, and despite being an older pup, he has a very good energy level. So if you are looking for an endearing and devoted companion, fill out the application for Toby.

Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.

Adoption fees vary with each dog and typically range from $150 to $500. They are set, taking into account the dog's age, training level, temperament, if they’re newly arrived, medical condition(s) (if any) and other factors. Adoption fees are used not only to rescue and place the dog you are personally adopting, but to aid in the future rescue and rehabilitation of other deserving dogs. Adoption fees are necessary; without fees, our rescue efforts would quickly come to an end. The adoption fee includes spay/neuter, microchip, and up-to-date vaccinations.
