Boru’s family are returning to Ireland and unfortunately the cost of quarantining the dog for 6 months (which is required) and more importantly the fact the dog would have little human contact during those 6 months was the deciding factor to rehome him.
What his previous family had to say about Boru:
Boru is a 2 yrs and 8 months old, Glen of Imaal Terrier. He i a very loving and loyal dog, with a lot of energy.
We have had Boru since he was 10 weeks old and to give him us is the hardest thing we have had to do. We hope that whoever adopts him will love him and care for him as we have and that he will become a part of your family.
Boru likes to be walked once or twice a day, for about 45 minutes at a time. He is calm and friendly when meeting other dogs. Until Boru has settled into your pack it would be advisable to keep him on leash however once he is settled he will enjoy being off leash. (Boru is currently being fostered in a home with other dogs and a cat and is fine with all of them.)
Glens as a rule are quiet, but Boru will be vocal at times and his bark sounds more like a Wolfhound than a Terrier.
Boru is great with children of any age, and he seems to obey them better than he does adults!
Boru loves nothing more than to lie at your feet. After his walk he zonks out on the floor however after a bath he will have a mad half hour running around barking.
We take Boru to the groomers 2 – 3 times a year.
Boru has not been castrated as the breed is very rare, even rarer than the Giant Panda. We did have intention on breeding but that dream was cut short by our move to Ireland. We would have loved to take him with us but the cost of the quarantine is more than we can afford at this time.
PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU ARE A GLEN BREEDER AND/OR A GLEN OF IMAAL BREED CLUB MEMBER YOU MAY CALL US TO INQUIRE ABOUT BORU AT 289-389-6039 OR REACH BY EMAIL AT DOGS@UGLYMUTTS.COM. PLEASE ENSURE YOU LEAVE A CONTACT NUMBER AND A BRIEF INTRODUCTION.
AS THE GLEN OF IMAAL IS A VERY RARE BREED AND ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND HERE IN CANADA, WE UNDERSTAND THAT PEOPLE WILL BE INTERSTED IN KNOWING MORE ABOUT BORU. WE WOULD APPRECIATE IT HOWEVER IF YOU WOULD FOLLOW THE LINK ABOVE OR DO AN INTERNET SEARCH ON THE BREED RATHER THAN CALLING OR EMAILING US FOR BREED INFORMATION.
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING BORU, PLEASE SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AND IF IT APPEARS THAT HE WOULD BE A GOOD FIT FOR YOU OUR ADOPTION TEAM WILL BE IN CONTACT TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE.
WE WILL NOT RESPOND TO ANY POTENTIAL ADOPTERS CALLS OR EMAILS ABOUT BORU UNTIL AFTER AN APPLICATION HAS BEEN RECEIVED.
