My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Name: Sarge

*Age: 3 years old

*Current Weight: 65

*Adoption fee: $375

Meet Sarge, affectionately known as Sarg-ento amongst staff and volunteers! This dynamic 3-year-old, 65 lb Catahoula/Australian Shepherd mix is one of the most exuberantly happy dogs to ever walk through SNARR’s Adoption Center! He has an infectious joy and irresistible charm that follows him wherever he goes. It’s impossible not to smile when Sarge is around!

Sarge is an active, bubbly dog with energy to burn and an adventurous spirit. He thrives outside in nature and would be an incredible companion for an active household that can be sure to set aside time to give him the attention he so deserves. Out on a walk, Sarge will walk on a loose leash and happily listen to his training commands! Sarge knows how to heel, sit, look, down, stay and wait at doorways. He also knows how to go to his Place (bed) and settle when asked! Sarge gets an A+ in training and this smart boy is a favorite amongst volunteers and trainers that frequent SNARR!

When meeting Sarge for the first time he likes to greet people with a giant leap of joy! That’s how happy he is to be in the presence of people who want to show him some attention. Even though Sarge has a brawny appearance, he adores a good cuddle! Sarge may even slide onto your lap in an effort to be even closer to you! Affectionate and super playful, Sarge is the best of both worlds; peppy with a side of cuddle!

Sarge has made some doggy friends during his time at the Adoption Center and continues to do well socializing. Sarge would do best in a home with a playful, strong female dog. A fenced-in yard would be a fantastic bonus, giving him the freedom to zoom around to his heart's content.

Sarge's dream home would be one where he can continue to thrive in an active environment. In return for your love and attention, Sarge promises to be your loyal and devoted companion, ready to embark on countless adventures by your side. If you're looking for a furry friend who's as adventurous as you are, look no further than Sarge! Sarge is located at our adoption center in Brewster, NY!

More about this rescue

SNARR Northeast Animal Rescue's mission is "Giving Hope to the Hopeless.” SNARR stands for Special Needs Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation. We do focus on animals with special needs but we also rescue perfectly healthy dogs as well! SNARR works with municipal shelters all over the country to save animals at risk for being euthanized. Our dogs (and cats) are all in foster homes prior to being adopted.
