FROM FOSTER MOM: Cloud Chaser was brought into the shelter foster system in July when his owner was moving and couldn’t take him and his sister with them. He is 11 years old and has lived outside his entire life. He was born blind and deaf, but has some light sensitivity. When he came in he was tested with dogs and cats. He did okay with females and cats but not males. As of now being in my home and coming to work with me…the smell of any dog sets him off. I believe due to his prolonged stay at the shelter that he no longer feels safe around any dogs or strangers. He is not leash trained so as of now I have to carry him outside and if it weren’t for my other dogs in the house I don’t think it would be difficult to teach him to walk outside on his own. He has responded great to house training and doesn’t really have any accidents. He had been given a euthanasia date which is why I went to pick him up, I contacted many rescues but many were either full or didn’t want to take on a senior dog that wasn’t dog friendly. He can be a very sweet dog and is still very active. He has started to enjoy the car rides to and from going to work and I believe he does really well with a routine. He is highly treat motivated and has a great nose, he loved doing doggy puzzles. I believe a home with no other dogs would be best as they stress him out and cause him to get worked up. Seven months in a shelter has not been kind to his mental health and he really needs a calm place to happily live out the rest of his days.
