Pupdate June 9, 2021
I'm a funny little man! I have my foster mommy and daddy laughing at all of my personality traits. I just love every pup that comes into rescue. I always give them kisses and lay next to them. Last year in August, I started water therapy and continued going 4 times a week until the second week of January 2021. I even spent a week at camp for additional therapy. I can walk now, but sometimes I stumble. I am determined to get right back up again and run! I am a special needs pup, I don't have control of my bladder so I wear a belly band. Foster mom knows when it's time for me to make a #2, I thump my back legs, one at a time. She gets me outside as soon as possible to do my jobbie.
I'm not on any medication because I'm very healthy. I would love to find a forever home with respectful older children. I really love toys and enjoy the company of other pups.
With love and licks,
Eko
PS, I love watching TV!

Hi, my name is Eko and I was found as a stray on May 5th, 2020 in Birmingham, Alabama. When I was found, I couldn't move my back legs or tail. After the doctor took x-rays of my back and legs, it was determined that I had several fractures. A month later, more x-rays were done and there was no fractures that could be seen. The first x-rays were proven to be incorrect. Anyway, I am a very happy boy and very determined to walk again. I've had 2 months of crate rest with a great foster mommy in Birmingham, Alabama.
On July 8th, GBHS loaded me up to come to Wisconsin to begin my new life of rehabilitation. I arrived very early in the morning on July 9th. My new foster mommy gave be a bath and groomed me so I would look handsome for my vetting appointment with my new Doctor. I loved my bath and stayed still so my hair could be trimmed and brushed out.
My Dr. Betty was very gentle with me, she took more x-rays and they showed up with no signs of fractures. She determined that I suffered some kind of unknown trauma. She sent the x-rays to the UW along with a suggestion of physical therapy and water therapy. Foster mommy is awaiting for a call back from the Ortho Dept. to set up a schedule.
On to my personality. I'm a goofball! I love my foster sisters and brothers and can scoot around as fast as they can run!
We just celebrated my first Birthday on Valentines Day. I have gone through five months of treadmill water therapy four days a week, a week of camp at Katie's Lane where Dr. Cathy worked on me several hours each day, including coupaging my broken body. I can now walk with very few falls. I'm a bit uncoordinated but I can get to where I want to go. I am incontinent and have no control of my bowels. Foster mommy thinks that after my brain completely heals that I might have some control. There is no guarantee. I wear belly bands and foster mommy knows exactly when I need to poo, I tap my back feet like a drum!
I love toys, warm beds and laps. I give the best kisses on earth and I need a home with someone that is there for me most of the time. I like older children if they are respectful of my disability. There is always a chance I will need therapy again, and my forever home must realize that they will need a therapist close by.
I am healthy, I love my mealtimes, breakfast and dinner. I am neutered and microchipped and have the whitest teeth, crooked but they match my walk! I love to explore and I can out run all of my siblings. I need to be watched at all times while outside along with being leashed. I can not do stairs, up or down. I must be carried.
I am a lover. I love all animals and people. Please be aware that I am a special needs pup and I require a lot of care.
Nose licks and hugs,
Eko
