My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATE (2/17/23)
Adoption Pending! Stone underwent his leg amputation surgery on Valentine’s Day and is recovering well!

Stone has found himself far from home! We can tell this sweet guy had an owner who loved him, but so far we have been unable to locate them despite our best efforts. He was found in December 2022, near Lake Cypress Springs in Mount Vernon, TX without a collar or microchip present.

Estimated to be 2 years old, Stone was already neutered when he was found. He is now also microchipped, fully vaccinated (including all core vaccines, rabies, & rattlesnake venom) and on parasite prevention medication. Stone did test positive for heartworms, but he began treatment right away and is tolerating it well.

Unfortunately he was also found with a significant injury to his front right leg. It was initially thought to be a wound from another animal, however x-rays confirmed it to be the result of a gunshot wound. His leg is fractured so significantly that it is damaged beyond repair, and will require amputation.

While Stone has a very long road of medical treatment & rehabilitation ahead of him, he WILL be able to recover and go on to enjoy a normal, long, and healthy life.

Currently in a foster home, Stone has shown that he gets along great with a variety of other animals and humans, is comfortable walking on a leash, and knows basic commands.

He has an affectionate, calm, and even-temperament, giving him great potential to adapt well to both the physical changes in his body and a new environment. His best days are still ahead of him, and perhaps you are the one he is meant to share them with.
