My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

DISCLOSURE: The adoptable pets in our program are still in the care and custody of owners who wish to re-home their pet. Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.

Nova is 4 years old and weighs 40 pounds.  She is spayed, is up to date on her vaccines, but is not microchipped.  " She attended a behavioral class recently where she did very well at. She is very smart and picks up easily. She knows basic tricks.  Nova is a dog who loves to run and play outside as much as she loves to cuddle up on the couch and take a nap.  She doesn't dislike or fear anything.  She loves car rides.  Her favorite toys are deer antlers(she gets protective over plush toys not sure why always has been)  Nova  loves to play but doesn’t like to be be challenged or share attention. "

Nova's guardian states the reason she has made the decision to rehome her:  "I recently had a toddler enter the home who she is acting weird toward, and I do not want something bad to happen.  We are unable to let her out during visits with the toddler due to this behavior."

Past/present medical history:  " She has been allergy tested with the results being:
Cod, goats milk, HOUSE FLYS, ANTS, beef, buckwheat, chicken, chicken eggs, cockroaches, cod liver oil, corn, duck, flaxseed oil, fleas, GRASS, Lima beans, mosquitoes, MOTHS, pork, rabbits, salmon, sardines, shellfish, turkey, wheat, white rice."

Nova's guardian states the following about children:  Nova has lived with a 3yo child but her guardian doesn't recommend her living with children, stating "she  gets nervous. I do believe is can be something worked with but in our situation we are not willing to take a chance and lose our daughter. We never let the child around her without a gate/glass door in between,"

Nova's guardian states the following about dogs:  Nova currently lives with dogs so her guardian recommends her living with dogs, stating " Nova  currently lives with 2 other male dogs. She is super friendly with them but tends to get pushed around causing her to push back. No attacks have happened but I believe she would do best in a single animal situation."

Nova's guardian states the following about cats:  Nova has lived with cats so her guardian recommends her living with cats, stating "she does not mind the cats whatsoever."

Nova's guardian further describes her as:

Couch potato
Playful
Likes to be touched
Affectionate
Protective
Always at your side
Indoor dog
Outdoor dog
House-Trained
Crate-Trained
Likes men
Likes women

Nova's guardian describes her ideal future home: " A fenced in back yard would be GREAT for her! Her favorite toys are deer antlers(she gets protective over plush toys not sure why always has been)  Nova  loves to play but doesn’t like to be be challenged or share attention so I believe her being an only dog would be best for her! she can get along with others with proper introduction and patience!!"

More about this rescue

Rescue Well was founded by Christine Sandberg in Baltimore, Maryland in 2011. Since its launch, it’s grown from offering post-adoption support to the city shelter, to offering several programs across Maryland, Washington, DC, and Northern Virginia. Our Programs focus on improving the lives of both pets and its owners. We proudly serve without judgment or expectations and we strictly follow our Rescue Well Engagement Model: ENGAGE > EDUCATE > EMPOWER.

Our organization’s programs are run by volunteers who are actively engaged in front-line intervention, community support, shelter support, and re-homing services for all pets.
