Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Name: Tate
Nicknames: Tater Tot. Beans. Mr. Bean.
Breed: Pitbull mix
Age: 11 months
Weight: ~50 lbs.
Before OMD: Brought to the city shelter very sick with parvo. We made him an OMD pup and brought him straight to the ER for treatment. He made a full recovery and has been in an amazing foster home ever since.
Energy level: Imagine an energetic, invincible noodle. He loves to play but also loves to nap. Prefers to have eyes on you at all times but doesn’t make too much of a fuss when you leave the house.
Speaking of Invincible: He's also a floppy, invincible foal. He is clumsy and awkward and has almost no control of his ever-growing limbs, but somehow goes SO FAST.
Traits: Friendly. Cuddly. Affectionate. Easy-going. Social. Sensitive.
Life Goal: To sleep as close to you as possible. To be nearby until you’re ready to play. To lick all the dishes in the dishwasher. To be your best friend.
Our favorite things: How he greets you with wiggles and a thumpy tail at the hint of attention. When he curls up into this adorable tight little ball and uses his little paws as pillows. How he's intuitive and sensitive and will give you a paw or a lick when he sees you're upset or down...oh, and let's not forget his little face that looks like it's covered in black beans.
His favorite things: BONES. Chew toys. Cuddles. Baby voices. Long walks. Car rides. Comfy spots to nap. Toys to rip apart. Falling asleep after a good chew-sesh. Playing rough with his dog pals.
What he knows: Sit. Come. Outside. Treat (“cookie”).
What he's working on: Less love-bites when he’s playing. Less pulling on the leash when he’s walking with another dog and wants to show off. Less barking when he’s frustrated or over-excited and not using his inside voice (giving him a toy solves most of his issues).
Dogs: He is fostered with other dogs and does wonderfully. He’s met lots of dogs of all ages, and he’s nothing but playful and friendly. He loves tug of war and has learned to play rough without being rude.
Kids: Did well with a toddler in one of his short-term foster homes. High chance it would go really well in his forever home, as long as they are sturdier, respectful kiddos who watch their fingers.
Cats: Nope. Thinks they're toys and wants to chase too much.
House-broken: Yes! Just make sure you take him out after a nap or playtime.
Crate-trained: Yes! He’s pretty much a dream (there have been some pee accidents during longer crate days) when he’s home alone and at night, but he will not be pleased if you put him in there when you’re home...he just wants to hang out with you and will let you know that!
Tate is vaccinated, heartworm negative, microchipped, and neutered. He is available for adoption to residents of Connecticut and surrounding states. If you are interested in adoption, please complete an application from omdrescue.org.
