Clifford von Breese is an adorable 1-2 year-old jack russell? mix who is very loving and sweet with his bonded people. This lucky little guy is being fostered in one of Westside’s most experienced foster homes, where he receives ample affection and direction while he waits for that very special ‘forever’ home. Clifford holds a remarkable passion for those he trusts, enthusiastically greeting all members of the foster family with leaps of joy and ample wet kisses when they return home, especially enjoying hugs and cuddles on the sofa with the family. He savors the energetic playtime in the yard with his foster fur siblings as much as he does the gentler long walks in the neighborhood with his favorite people. Clifford’s prior life on the streets of LA came with its challenges -- where he did his best to love and protect the homeless woman who eventually relinquished him because she could no longer care for him – but Clifford’s life took an extraordinary turn with Westside. His foster family is so proud of the crucial adjustments that Clifford has made to this significant lifestyle change, facilitated by an environment of trust and compassion that was offered to this sweet young guy. Being a super smart lad, Clifford quickly became convinced of his great fortune and has blossomed into a well-adjusted member of his foster family. Clifford sleeps quietly in his crate all night, is housebroken, and otherwise very trustworthy in the family’s house. Visitors to the home can be initially daunting for him, but Clifford’s energy can easily be redirected to some yummy treats or fun toys while he gains comfort around new people. Because of his background experiences, there will be an adjustment period for his forever family that will include patience and slow introductions; his ideal home would be on the quieter side without young children and without frequent visitors. Clifford can't wait to meet you and to begin the newest chapter of his life....your efforts will be richly rewarded as you witness all the love that Clifford has to give you in return.
Clifford von Breese is in a foster home, offsite, and is NOT at our rescue location in Los Angeles.

Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.

In order to adopt any dog from Westside German Shepherd Rescue, one must fill out an adoption application first. Upon receipt of your application, a Westside adoption counselor will contact you.We do aerial home checks and you may be asked to supply pictures as well as arranging for a home visit prior to adoption.
Adoption fees vary with each dog and typically range from $150 to $500. They are set, taking into account the dog's age, training level, temperament, if they’re newly arrived, medical condition(s) (if any) and other factors. Adoption fees are used not only to rescue and place the dog you are personally adopting, but to aid in the future rescue and rehabilitation of other deserving dogs. Adoption fees are necessary; without fees, our rescue efforts would quickly come to an end. The adoption fee includes spay/neuter, microchip, and up-to-date vaccinations.
